At 11 am (UK time) today, 19th December 2025, it was announced in Rome that Pope Leo XIV has appointed Bishop Richard Moth as the new Archbishop of Westminster. He succeeds Cardinal Vincent Nichols as the 12th Archbishop of Westminster. Archbishop-Elect Moth, until now, was the Bishop of Arundel and Brighton. Till Archbishop Moth is installed at the Westminster Cathedral on Saturday, 14th February 2026, Cardinal Nichols will now become Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Westminster. We thank Cardinal Nichols for his selfless service to the diocese and wish him well in his retirement.
We joyfully welcome this news and continue to pray for Right Reverend Richard Moth as our Archbishop.
